An accuser is the person who says someone else did a bad thing. They are the one pointing. In court, the accuser is the one bringing the claim (close to the plaintiff in some systems). In ordinary life, it is whoever says “It was you.” The word is a noun, even though the idea is the act of accusing. Though actually, being the accuser does not make you right; it only names your role in the story.

組成accuse + -er in English, but the older path is Middle English acuser from Old French accusour, from Latin accūsātor (“one who accuses”), from accūsāre.
