If you perform your ablutions, you wash yourself. In some religions, ablutions are the washing you do before prayer — hands, face, sometimes the whole body. That use is serious. The other use is almost a joke, especially in British English: someone says they must perform their ablutions, meaning they are going to wash, or even just going to the bathroom, and they are putting on an old, voice on purpose. Though actually, English speakers nearly always use the plural, ablutions, even when one person washes once. The singular exists in careful or religious writing, but it sounds stiff in daily speech. It is not a word for washing dishes or washing a car. It is washing a person.

組成From Latin abluere, “to wash away” (ab- “away” + luere “to wash”). English nearly always uses the plural ablutions, even for one person's wash.
