An aberration is an action or event that stands far apart from what usually happens, or from what someone usually does. It is the odd one, the departure: a kind month from a sharp boss; a wild result in a quiet set of numbers; a city that is peaceful “except for that one aberration.” People use it when they want to say “this is not the real pattern — do not judge the whole by this.” It is more common in careful speech, news, and science than in playground talk.
