Abandonware is old computer software that companies no longer sell, patch, or support, and that most people no longer use in the ordinary way. Fans often keep old games and tools alive under this name: the publisher has moved on, the original discs are gone, but someone still wants to run the programme. The word is informal and belongs to computing talk, not to a courtroom. Copyright often still exists even when a product feels abandoned, so sharing abandonware can sit in a grey area — people use the word as a description, not as a legal right. You will meet it on old-game forums and in writing about digital history.
棄用軟體(公司已不賣、也不再更新,幾乎沒人再用的舊程式)。
組成abandon (leave behind) + ware (the same piece as in software). A computer-culture blend, not an old dictionary word.
