Written after a clock time to show that the time is after midnight and before , so it is in the morning or in the early hours of the day.
「a.m.」寫在時間後面，用來說清楚那個時間是「午夜之後、中午之前」的那一段，所以 3 a.m.（半夜三點）和 9 a.m.（早上九點）都算 a.m.。它來自拉丁文 ante meridiem（中午之前），可以想成一天被中午切成兩半，a.m. 就是還沒走到中午的那半邊。跟 p.m. 一起看最清楚：7 a.m. 是早上七點，7 p.m. 是晚上七點；要特別記的是 12 a.m. 是半夜，12 p.m. 才是中午。
