If you call someone 404, you are joking that they are lost with computers and other — as if their brain came back “not found”. It comes from the internet message 404, which a website shows when the page you asked for is not there. Informal, slightly teasing. Kind people use it about a moment (“I’m so 404 with this printer”), not as a real judgment of someone’s intelligence. Though actually, in everyday life 404 still mostly means the missing page; the “clueless with tech” sense is English internet humour, and not everyone will get the joke. It is not a nice word to stick on a who is only new to a machine.
